The Seahawks have signed veteran defensive end, Jimmy Wilkerson, who spend 2010 with New Orleans after several seasons in Tampa.
Wilkerson, 30, is 6’2, 270lbs and will presumably compete for time with Chris Clemons at the LEO (weakside DE) position and could come off the strong side, opposite Clemons on passing downs.
There was talk of Wilkerson joining the ‘Hawks last season but things never materialized.
This could be an indication that Seattle is electing to pass on bringing back Raheem Brock (9 sacks in ’10) for a second season with the team.
Once the dust settles a bit, we’ll break down the depth chart on both sides of the ball for Seattle, and closely analyze where the various pieces will/should fit. I’m sure there’s plenty more of activity still to come, considering that the ‘Hawks are still well under the salary cap and have more needs (CB, LB, FB).
