Hawks Take Wright, Durham with 4th Round Picks…
With the 99th pick overall, Seattle selected OLB K.J. Wright (6’3, 243lbs) out of Mississippi State. Wright is an instinctive, solid ‘backer who can play in coverage or up on the line. He could be a candidate for the rush end (“Leo”) position as he flashes a decent pass-rush with nice closing speed from the outside. He also brings some depth to a position that may need it in the case that Will Herring and Leroy Hill don’t return in 2011.
At 107 overall, the ‘Hawks took Kris Durham, a WR out of Georgia. At 6’5, 217lbs (4.5 40-yard dash), Durham fits the typical “big target” mold that Pete Carroll likes in his receivers. Durham entered the draft a bit overlooked, having not been invited to the combine, but game tape shows a long-striding, solid-route runner with strong hands and good instincts. This could be the steal of the draft for Seattle.
More to come on both picks…
Seattle picks next at 154 in the 5th round, then two picks later at 156.
