Leroy Hill Domestic Assault Case Settled…

The case against Leroy Hill following a domestic dispute with his girlfriend in April, has been settled.

It has been ruled that the case can be thrown out in 18 months, if Hill complies with two stipulations. He must complete a one-year Domestic Violence Protection Program, and avoid any criminal wrongdoing for the next year and a half.

What this means, is that this could all just go away if Hill keeps his nose clean for at least the next 18 months. Seems easy enough, right?

It does not mean, however, that the league is finished with Hill. Remember, Rocky Bernard had a very similar ruling in his domestic violence case, with a 2-year probationary period and fulfilment of a domestic violence class, yet the league still suspended him for one game. And that was on a first offense.

Considering that Hill is already suspended for the first game of the season for the DUI and marijuana traffic incident in Georgia last year, it’s highly probable that he’ll receive an additional suspension of at least one game, possibly more.

As for his standing with the Seahawks, time will have to tell. All indications are that he is in the plans for this season, but in light of the Lawrence Jackson trade among the many other transactions that have been taking place lately in Renton, don’t consider Hill immovable.

Taking into consideration how potentially thin (fragile is probably a better word) the Seahawks are at linebacker right now, it would be hard to foresee Hill going anywhere . Lofa Tatupu continues to show vulnerability to injury, Hill himself will be out for a few weeks with a knee tweak, and Aaron Curry suffered a concussion early in camp, though he appears to have recovered. All things considered, Hill shouldn’t be moving anytime soon.

Assuming the league is going to add any games to the Hill suspension, it would probably be handed down within the next week.
